    Watch shopping at Zurich Airport

A quick stopover at Zurich Airport on the way from Amsterdam to Southern Spain in September 2018. I didn't have much time but still an opportunity to look at the displays and walk into a few shops.
  3. These are pictures of a visit to the Royal Observatory in 2017. The history is very interesting, especially when you're a watch enthusiast and interested in horology in general. It wasn't too busy and I can highly recommend taking a tour with one of the guides. Usually I like to explore on my own but the guide was very knowledgeable. The museum is quite nice as well and shows the history and need for reliable time instruments through the ages. And especially the need for accurate time for navigation.

    Welcome to Horology World

Thanks Chris. It's understandable a new site is difficult for new members to engage, remain interested and coming back. It was worth a try and I enjoyed doing it. As mentioned, there are so many other social media outlets like Facebook, Instagram, Reddit and the main for-profit commercial forums like Watchuseek that makes it difficult to start something from scratch. No plans for other ventures but that may change at any time.

Christopher Ward C8 Flyer Automatic DLC

    1. Model: C8 Flyer Automatic DLC 2. Diameter (w/o crown): 44mm 3. Condition: Like new 4. Age: 3 weeks 5. Availability of box and papers: Both 6. Current location of watch: Michigan, USA 7. Price: US$ 350 / GBP 270 8. Shipping-costs: Free Priority Mail in the USA, my cost to other countries. Priority Mail to the UK is GBP 40. This was purchased in the January sale and I am offering it here in the CWA group for the same price. I also bought a C8 Wordtimer in the sale and these 2 watches are just too similar to keep both in the collection. I wish I could keep them all but I try not to become a watch hoarder. It was worn on a different strap for a couple of times but mostly spent time on my desk. It is still in pristine new condition except for a few tiny marks on the bottom of the lugs. I am usually very careful with strap changes and these quick-release straps should be easy. But it is what it is. The strap is a black Tiber and really nice quality. I timed the watch for 7 days and has an accuracy of -0.3 seconds per day. This was laying flat on a desk for most of the time and average accuracy can vary depending on how you wear it and the position it is stored at night. And it can change over time. I'll pay for Priority Mail shipping within the USA and also cover any Paypal fees. I will ship to Canada, Australia/NZ, Western Europe and perhaps a few other countries at my cost. Also posted for sale on the CW forum. It will go to eBay with a 10% mark-up after about a week if there are no interested buyers here. The watch will arrive exactly as described or I will happily refund your moeny and pay for return shipping. Please check out my feedback on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/usr/frank.wulfers

    Design suggestions for CW watches

The new C60 due in May of this year is most likely going to have a pointy arrow hour hand and baton-shaped minute hand. I was looking at the current handset and understand the water drop hour hand is not for everyone. The minute hand looks great though and is a distinctive design feature. How about replace the water drop hand with a similar sword hand? And of course switch the position of the word mark with the twin flags and put TRIDENT PRO back on the dial.

    Watch strap and bracelet storage

I had my straps in several boxes and containers and finally got some better storage for them. These are basic plastic stackable jewelry trays that can hold a good number of straps. They are not very high but that's a good thing so you won't keep stacking many straps on top of each other. After I got things organized, I realized I had more straps than I thought and found some I didn't even know I had. I have to get another set of three for some more straps and bracelets. Possibly for some watches and tools, spring bars and other small things as well. These are 1" height and are $18 for 3 trays so not expensive. They also come in 1.5" and 2" height and you can get soft liners and compartment inserts as well. Find it here on Amazon: https://amzn.to/2ClOlER
  11. Bold and legible in both its steel or diamond-like carbon (DLC) case configurations, the C8 Flyer Automatic is a strong entry point into the world of Christopher Ward's mechanical aviation watches. £595 Description Introducing a Sellita SW200-1 movement to our aviation range, the C8 Flyer Automatic shares the same case and aesthetic as pieces like the C8 Power Reserve and UTC Worldtimer, without any sacrifice made in the attention to detail and design. Inspired by the Spitfire's dashboard clock, legibility is key. Gunmetal indexes, hands and double-sized numerals are filled with SuperLuminova, contrasting strongly against the Automatic's matte black dial; its baton markers have also been cut away, with depth provided elsewhere by a sloped and fully tracked outer minuterie ring. Anti-reflective sapphire crystal ensures minimal reflections in all conditions. The Automatic's 44mm case references the larger sizes worn by fighter pilots - for example, the enlarged crown is a nod to those who had to operate theirs whilst wearing thick flying gloves. On the reverse, the backplate has been deep-stamped with an image of the Farnborough wind tunnels, used to develop icons of British aviation including the Spitfire and the Concorde. British by design and British by nature - this is a watch that isn't afraid to declare its roots in a heroic period of the RAF's history - the C8 Flyer Automatic's precision is assured by its robust Swiss-made movement. Available with a diamond-like carbon (DLC) or brushed and polished steel case, which one will you choose? Movement With 26 jewels and an anti-shock system (necessary for ensuring smooth timekeeping throughout everyday use), the Sellita SW200-1 is an industry-revered movement. Dependable and accurate, it features a self-winding mechanism and a 38 hour power reserve, while a date wheel sits at 3 o'clock. Boasting a classic frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (that's eight ticks a second), the SW200-1 powers the C8 Flyer Automatic with supreme precision. Technical Diameter: 44mm Height: 12.05mm Weight: 96g Calibre: Sellita SW200-1 Case: 316L stainless steel Water resistance: 5 ATM (50 metres) Timing tolerance: +20/-20 seconds/day Dial colour: Black Lume: T-C1 SuperLuminova Strap width: 22mm Strap colour: Camel Lug to lug: 53.2mm Features Swiss made 26 jewel self-winding mechanical movement Brushed and polished stainless steel case Multi-layered dial with lume-dipped hands Deep-stamped screw-down backplate Push-down crown with serrated teeth and deep-stamped wind turbine motif Anti-reflective flat sapphire crystal Date window with black disc White SuperLuminova numerals and indexes Unique engraved serial number Vintage finish Tiber leather strap with hand-sewn whip stitch
